There is no difference in the overall features of the desktop or the laptop computers, even cheap laptops. Both have the same features of processor, RM, display, ports, and connectivity concerns. Both also have the operating systems and other software including the multimedia to function properly.

Many such ultra portable laptops use the Intel Centrino technologies. They use the Intel Pentium M processors. Along with this they also have the Intel 855 boards and 802 Wi-Fi. The basic advantage of these components is that they all are low energy consumers. However some of the laptops also use the AMD Sempron processor. This type of computers uses the ATI Radeon Xpress Chipsets.

Most of the laptops computers use the 512 MB RAM though a few use the higher version of 1024 MB RAM. Again some of these laptops use the DRD2 memory system while others use the DDR memory system. The display screen size ranges from 12.1 inches to 13.3 inches. However the former is the standard size for such laptops. The commonly supported resolutions are 1024 X 768; 1280 X 768; and 1200 X 800.

Ordinarily even the cheap laptops will have two USB ports but with the advancement of technology the manufacturers have started keeping 4 USB ports in the laptops. For Internet use the standard is the 56 KBP modem. While the advanced brands use Gigabit Ethernet for connection others use the slower 10/100 connection speed.
